Writer turned visual artist
Born 1941 in Honnef/Germany, Klaus Stadtmueller has been living in Bonn, Bergen/Norway and Göttingen where he studied law and held a university position. From 1972 onwards he was a legal counsel to a big German foundation in Hannover/Germany promoting research throughout the world. In 2002 he took early retirement and relocated for five years to Cape Town/South Africa and from there 2007 to Buenos Aires/Argentina. In 2010 he moved to Singapore and two years later to South Western France, where he is living at present. A former chairman of the German Writers´Association, Lower Saxony branch, and one of the former editors of the literary quarterly die horen, he is currently a member of the board of the Schwitters Foundation. K.S. has been publishing since 1975, his fields of work being short prose, poetry, feature, editing, review and critique, gloss, typographic works, rubber stamp texts and pictures, computer drawings, artists´ books and literary actions as well as journalistic articles. He has published portfolios, poems, volumes of short prose, children´s books as well as rubber stamp texts and radio features in addition to compilations as an editor – notably on Kurt Schwitters.
