Description

Spiral Stare-Case was inspired by the form of a beautiful stairwell at the Viscaya in Miami (a beautiful estate built out of white coral by a french sea-captain to impress his bride, now an event space. I was there as part of an event for Gourmet Magazine).

The composition explores the push-pull of figure to ground relationships creating an ambiguity of form.
Is this a light figure on a dark ground, or a dark figure on a light ground? Yes. As always, it depends on where one focuses their attention.
