Description

Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and in particular Colour Field painting, this piece explores the artist's interest in the contrast of formal and informal shapes, colour interaction, texture and spatial arrangement. The formally arranged segments of the painting interact with bold blocks of paint pulled across the surface, creating energetic relationships of shape and colour.
The artist's intention is to create tension and harmony in the the same piece.
The entire image can be viewed as a whole but each individual section can be regarded as a composition of it's own, leading the eye on a journey from one part to the next.
