I am an artist, working in digital collage transposed to canvas, and curator, who specialises in using contemporary art to tease out an historical lineage defying incomplete notions of national and religious identity today.
In 2015, I launched my first solo exhibition, "New Britannia: Reinventing British Iconography" at Borough Market's Roast Restaurant and, in 2016, mounted "The unbreakable rope: an exploration of sexuality in Islam", commissioned by Quilliam Foundation and hosted by Free Word Centre. I received an MA History of Art on a merit scholarship from Birkbeck College and a BA in Music with honours from NYU. After studying piano performance, theory and history for twenty years, I moved to working as a dealer of Modern & Impressionist art, a consultant in arts development and PR, and a writer of painting, photography, architecture, film and dance reviews. Since 2015 I have concentrated on making my own work and on curating group shows of social urgency, bringing art from all over the world to London in order to change preconceptions and embedded patterns of thought.
