Over the years, I realised that in many situations an expanded concept of shape can be advantageous. In recent years, my development has moved away from the abstract image solution towards increasingly concrete forms. Realistic, naturalistic image solutions have become conceivable.
Since 2008, Elmar Maria Buehler has been working exclusively as a professional fine artist. In his first years of study, he trained under the renowned German professor of art Jörg Bachhofer. In 2015 Elmar Maria Buehler was taken on as a student by the world-famous painter Markus Lüpertz.
These academic studies ended in 2018 with his being awarded the title of Meisterschüler [Master Student].
Elmar Maria Buehler now lives in Nuremburg again, the city of his birth.
The main theme of the work displayed is the reinterpretation of Virgils dream of earthly paradise: Arcadia. Elmar Maria Buehler attempts here, in the tradition of his teacher Markus Lüpertz, to translate the Arcadian theme for the modern age. The central theme of the Arcadian idea - the longing for a peaceful, ideal world which conflicts with mortality (et in arcadia ego) - makes it a highly relevant topic today. Elmar Maria Buehler was appointed as the master student (Meisterschüler) of Markus Lüpertz in 2018.
