  • Description

The subject of my creation is unseen changes of my feelings. Heart seems to be chaotic, but I feel it is very rational and clever and that it has a simple and beautiful structure. I’ve been trying to make it take shape.
By this work of mine, I tried to capture my changing feelings because I think it could be possible to clarify a principle or a rule of emotional chemistry, which is difficult to catch in words, by presenting my feelings intuitively with clay. So I always put my emotions into shape according to the changes of my feelings – my actual feelings which arise in touching clay.
Coil-forming, which began in the prehistoric age and is still a main and common technique in ceramic, is to pile clay strips. The piled strips form a frame, which we can change into any shape as long as the clay is soft enough, and I put it into my seeking shape. Then, as a result of those processes and fire in a hearth, I get a shape representing my emotions, including my unconsciousness as well as my consciousness.
Eventually, I see in my work what I felt at that time.
