The Orquidiarium series is composed of seventeen boxes with seventeen different creatures and its particular feature is that they are all half orchids and half animal. CanisLupus Epidendrum is the last drawing of the series and bring together a "brand-new" orchid on the family of epidendrum composed of a German Labrador body and an orchid head. For years, I used to take inspiration on the big and incredible family of orchids. All starts in the Singapore Botanical Garden, when I got the strange feeling of orchids laughing at me...it was like a revelation! Since that, every time I see orchids I see them like faces with human expressions. The basement of this series come after the middle Age European bestiaries, especially in the background patterns. The hybridization of flowers and animals is also a reference to the human desire of
taking part in the creation of new specimens as playing to be Got. But as I think that is a dangerous game, I prefer to use my drawings like they used in Middle age, when the metaphysical conscience of true, doesn't mean accurate, and fantasy is part of the real world. By doing so I humbly accept my human limits.
